Footprint Expert Naming Convention

The PCB Footprint Expert uses the following footprint naming conventions.

"STANDARD" and "NON-STANDARD" components are defined as follows:

STANDARD
Components whose footprints are symmetrical in nature, typically with the same size pads and identical shapes. These are further classified into either the "Surface Mount" or "Through-hole" category.

NON-STANDARD
Components with various size pads that are not necessarily symmetrical, and normally are arbitrarily placed. Here are some samples of "non-standard" components the Footprint Expert can also create or access from our Parts on Demand (POD) database:
