    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.PCBLibraries.com/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=3">Tom H</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 3548<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 24 Sep 2025 at 6:30pm<br /><br />TSOP = Thin Small Outline Package&nbsp;<div><br></div><div>TSOP was created by a the marketing department of a component manufacturer to refer to the low height profile of 1.60 mm.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Since this was released years ago, the SOP package Height has changed to 1.20 and then to 1.00 and then to 0.80.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Their marketing plan only worked for a couple years.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>TSOP is really just a metric pin pitch SOP.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Manufacturers have referred to the SOP as:</div><div><ul><li>TSOP - Thin Small Outline Package</li><li>SSOP - Shrink Small Outline Package (Fine Pitch)</li><li>TSSOP - Thin Shrink Small Outline Package (Thin and Fine Pitch)</li></ul><div><br></div></div>]]>
