    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.PCBLibraries.com/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=3">Tom H</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 1600<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 12 Mar 2015 at 7:23am<br /><br />It's really the universal Footprint Naming Convention of the future. <div>&nbsp;</div><div>Component manufacturer's are creating unique packages that do not fall within the IPC-7351 Naming Convention. </div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>So half your library&nbsp;footprint name&nbsp;are IPC-7351 and half are <strong>MfrName_MfrPartNumber</strong> </div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>Eventually, the Unique&nbsp;Packages&nbsp;will out number the Standard Packages and the IPC-7351 naming convention will fade away. It's already starting to fall apart even with Standard Packages. </div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>If 2, 3 or 4&nbsp;standard packages have the same identical dimensions but their tolerances are all different, you will end up with different footprints with the same IPC-7351 footprint name. </div><div>&nbsp;</div>]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.PCBLibraries.com/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=1149">acmenet</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 1600<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 12 Mar 2015 at 6:13am<br /><br /><p>Hi,<br><br>We use the _EBC&nbsp;&nbsp; and _GSD to name our SOT23 transistor, and is incorported into the&nbsp;IPC name. <br><br>How do we achieve the same with series SOT23 diodes, where we have for example:<br>&nbsp;<br>Anode - Anode/Cathode - Anode<br><br>or Anode - Cathode/Anode - Cathode<br><br>we don't want to use pin numbering as e have had infinite problems in the past using numbing methods<br><br>Look forward to an answer ( sorry if this one has been asked before)<br><br>Cheers<br></p>]]>
