Author: kenbair
Subject: 745
Posted: 13 Dec 2012 at 5:48am

I'm getting ready to create a new library for an Aerospace company in NJ and I would like to use Footprint Express to calculate my pad sizes, etc. It looks like a great tool.

Currently though, I'm using LP Calculator which is the software that ships with IPC7351. I understand from John Perry at IPC that LPC Calculator is IPC's only officially adopted and validated calculator. The latest version is 10.3.

Since Footprint Expert is not approved or validated by IPC , I won't have a leg to stand on when pitching it to my boss. What do you suggest?

Regards,

Ken
