I'm trying to understand how to implement this feature.

I think you're saying this "Insert the component mfr. pattern data and it never goes away and instead of the checkbox turning the mfr. data on/off have the checkbox turn on/off to use mfr. or IPC"

This is my #1 peeve with the program. Unchecking the box should not reset the values. When deciding if I want to use the recommended pattern or the calculated pattern, I like to toggle between the two. It's hard for me to think about how similar the two are just by looking at the numbers.
