IIRC, In 2015.19 a change was made to the name/alternate name structure. Normally it had Name as the regular name and then alternate name as the environment level. This was changed so that it had regular name, and then name minus environment level and was deemed to be bad form and incorrect for what users need for CADSTAR and was reverted to the original style of environment level as the alternate name.

Hello, can I ask what the method was and what it is now?
Kind of a why question?

Just being nosey - but it helps me if I know more about any CADSTAR things.CADSTAR:
    • The method of footprint naming was reverted back to pre V2015.19 terminology
