When I create a footprint from Footprint Expert, it generates the *.dra file okay, but fails when trying to generate the *.psm file. Here's the error:

Create symbol started.

 WARNING(SPMHA1-299): Create symbol multiple text lines are not supported on a single component type subclass.

    Item=1, Text= 'Dev' Layer= DEVICE TYPE/ASSEMBLY_TOP Location= (0.0000 0.0000)

    Item=2, Text= 'Ref' Layer= DEVICE TYPE/ASSEMBLY_TOP Location= (0.0000 0.0000)

 WARNING(SPMHA1-299): Create symbol multiple text lines are not supported on a single component type subclass.

ERROR(SPMHA1-291): Create symbol has been aborted.

Is there an option to either turn off creation of one or both of these two text lines; or to change the subclass they go to?

Tom, thanks for pointing that out. Suppressing the drill warnings corrected the issue.

Please read the User Guide to properly set up your OrCAD PCB preferences.

In particular, focus on making sure the drill warningsare suppressed per section 2, and that the Padpath and PsmPath are correct persection 1.

There seems to be a problem creating mechanical pins using LibExpert with OrCAD 17.2. When a non-plated pad is created where the hole is the same size as the pad (i.e., no pad), OrCAD gives a warning that the pad will be drilled through. Normally, there is a dialog box to save the pad anyway with the warning. When LibExpert runs the script, this dialog box does not appear and the pad is not created.

Has anyone else seen this issue?

This used to work correctly with OrCAD 16.6.

uploads/12386/PICS.rarI am new to ORCAD.. I am trying to design a pcb board using orcad.. Firstly I drawn a schematic in orcad capture.. in my design I am only using..a 2pin connector, an LED and a resistor..

I designed the 2 pin connector and LED library myself and created the dra and psm files of connector and LED in my project path..

But i didn't designed the resistor because i used the resistor from inbuilt library in orcad - DATACONV. later I annotated my components and created netlist...

then I opened ORCAD PCB designer professional and created a new board in it.. and imported the created netlist. when i am trying to place my components, I could only see my led and 2 pin connector..I can't see my resistor... please find the rar file in which my pictures of project

Problem: When you attempt to run a build, Cadence Allegro does not open like it was. This issue is coupled with having just upgraded to 17.2.

Resolution: This is a Cadence problem in that 17.2 does not appear to set your CDSROOT and Path environment variables. You can check this by running Cadence Switch Release either in Start -> Run or the Search Box in Windows 10 and start typing 'Cadence Switch Release'. You should see it after the first couple of letters. Select it and run it.

The Path in CDSROOT should match the Path in the top part of the box. This is the Cadence Design System Root variable and is used to determine the root directory of the current release. If you have the problem, this will be blank.

To fix this, you need to set your Environment Variables for CDSROOT and PATH. To do this, you need to open your Environment Variables as such:

In Windows, you go to Control Panel. Select Large Icons.Select System. Alternatively, In Windows 10, you can right click on Start ->System.

Then go Advanced System Settings ->Environment Variables. You set both CDSROOT and PATH there.

CDSROOT will likely not even be a variable. Create a new one in System Variables, set the name to CDSROOT and the value to the proper full path to the SPB directory as noted above.

Path will certainly be a variable. You will need to edit it and add the following directories. If in Windows 7, you'll need to simply tack them on to the end of the string using the nomenclature ;. The Path variable is simply lots of directories separated by semicolons. If in Windows 10, it'll look like the following dialog and edit the entries to add the highlighted paths.

With these two variables set, when the program runs 'allegro' it will be able to find the actual executable which sits in %CDSROOT%\tools\bin and in turn run it properly.

All dimensions are provided on page 37 for QFN Package

Samtec will also send you a Pads library/footprint file for the ASP connector (EG ASP-103614-04.ld4), but you need to request it.

I thought any samtec part number that began ASP was a custom part?
