Use FP Designer to create Rectangular pads for through-hole footprints. 

Most SAMTEC connectors and Headers and created in FP Designer. 

Are you using www.pcblibraries.com/POD ?

There are thousands of free connectors there, most created in FP Designer. 

Also, Footprint Expert comes with a Connectors library and they are all created in FP Designer.

For through hole headers, I cannot set the lead shape to rectangle.  This option is available in the 'Padstack Calculator' but not in the  Through-Hole  'Component Type = Header' calculator.

For now you have to play with the drill size for square or round pin until you get the drill/pad  that the 'Padstack calculator' has calculated for the rectangle pin, or modify the pads/pins in Designer.


Like, the Samtec SSW series of headers that have a rectangular pin of 0.41x0.79mm
